Celebrating and recognizing the remarkable contributions of women in politics who have made a significant impact at the Texas Capitol.

AUSTIN, TX (September 9, 2024) The Pink Granite Foundation (Pink Granite), an organization dedicated to educating and empowering women in Texas politics and public policy, announced its 2024 award winners. The foundation named Ellen Arnold this year’s Legacy Award recipient, Caitlin Flanders as the Rising Star winner and Amber Hausenfluck was named Mentor of the Year.

“Receiving the Legacy Award from the Pink Granite Foundation is an honor that reflects the enduring bonds of camaraderie, mentorship and the ability to bridge partisan divides at the Texas Capitol,” said Ellen Arnold. This award celebrates the shared commitment to public service and the unique role that women have played in fostering collaboration and understanding across the political spectrum. It is a tribute to the legacy of those who have not only shaped policy but have also cultivated a spirit of unity and fellowship that continues to strengthen our state.”

Ellen Arnold embodies the spirit of leadership and collaboration at the heart of the Pink Granite Foundation. Her dedication and exceptional skill have left an indelible mark on Texas politics and made her an invaluable asset to our community. We are honored to recognize her outstanding contributions,” said Pink Granite’s Executive Director, Amy Whited.

Caitlin Flanders has quickly emerged as a rising star within the Texas political landscape, thanks to her deep understanding of the legislative process and her extensive experience working on critical committees in both the Senate and House. Her commitment to public service and her ability to influence legislative outcomes have made her a standout figure in Texas politics.

“Receiving the Rising Star Award is an incredible honor. My journey in Texas politics has been shaped by the mentors, colleagues and leaders who have guided me along the way. I’m deeply committed to continuing this work and to making a positive impact on the policies that affect our state,” Flanders said. “This recognition inspires me to keep pushing forward, not just for myself, but for the many voices that deserve to be heard in the legislative process.”

Pink Granite also recognized its 2024 mentees and Mentor of the Year, Amber Hausenfluck, a partner with T X Public Affairs. Known for her expertise in traditional advocacy, lobbying and government relations, Hausenfluck has been instrumental in shaping legislation that impacts industries across Texas. Her legislative career began as the legislative director for Sen. Leticia Van de Putte, where she played a key role in the passage of the MOVE Act and laws expanding the craft beer and distillery markets. Amber’s influence extends beyond the Capitol with her significant association management experience and involvement in statewide campaigns.  Amber is also deeply committed to fostering the next generation of leaders, serving as a mentor for the Pink Granite Foundation, where she guides and inspires women in the political and policy arenas.

“I am truly honored to be recognized in this capacity. My career has been shaped by the incredible mentors and experiences I’ve had, from working on groundbreaking legislation to serving diverse industries and communities across Texas. Being a mentor for the Pink Granite Foundation allows me to give back and help shape the future of women in our field,” Hausenfluck said. “This acknowledgment reinforces my commitment to advocating for the interests that matter most to Texans, and I am excited to continue this journey with the passion and dedication that have always driven me.”

Each winner will be recognized at the annual Pink Granite Party on September 10. Tickets can be purchased here.
